I love to see the sparks of understanding and creativity grow in individuals who are just starting their art journeys or in those refinding their way in techniques that stretch their comfort zones.
I teach classical methods of drawing and painting. What does this mean? Well nothing in art is new but we turn to the masters who have gone before us to build on techniques that we know work well. Just as in driving a car or baking a cake, there are "recipes" for success. Drawing or painting is no different and once you understand the basics of how form and colour are created, it opens doors to your imagination and lets you create anything you want. Of course you have to put time into this process to practice the techniques that I can share with you.
I work in oil paint using only a palette knife but the techniques of shape and colour translate to any medium and any tool, so whether you use oil paint, acrylic or watercolour, the theory is all the same, just the medium and its quirks changes.

Having a second set of eyes to review your work is critical for moving ahead and overcoming stumbling blocks in your art journey. I offer individual sessions both online and in person to help with understanding techniques, constructive critiques to solve problems in paintings, understanding art business and marketing or building a portfolio.
Fees for these dedicated sessions are $75.00 + HST an hour.

I also offer private classes in drawing or painting to individuals on a limited basis throughout the year. These can be from one hour to the more popular four class units. Individuals interested in private classes should contact me via email jeanettejobson@gmail.com or by telephone 709-746-9968 to discuss their requirements and confirm a suitable time.
Fees, per person, for private classes are:
$60 + HST 1 hour
$95 + HST 1.5 hours
$350 + HST four 1.5 hour classes

Group Workshops
Would your art group like to book a workshop? Producing art can seem daunting to those who do not know how. "I can't even draw a straight line." is a common phrase. Well neither can most artists! Most of life isn't about straight lines and neither is art,whether drawing or painting. As with all skill sets, there are techniques to learn. Once you know how a medium works, what supports you use and how they react, you're ready to jump in and start creating. All you need is the desire to learn, some time to practice and a few supplies.
Sharing information and art techniques is one of the pleasures of being an artist and I believe its important to give so that others may learn and create. Each person will learn and develop at their own pace and produce work in their own style.
I offer a variety of workshops and classes, from hour long presentations for art groups up to three day workshops concentrating on technique. An introduction to a topic usually takes a day (6 hours). To gain practical training and understanding of techniques, a two day workshop is recommended. For specialized subjects, a three day workshop allows enough time to really absorb information and practice techniques.
